This is a very isolated yet beautiful campground. It's probably a solid 30+ minute drive on a dirt road, but totally worth the trip to the car wash when you get home.
There are two sections of camp sites. I stayed in the first camp area. There were only two additional sites occupied, and this was on a summer weekend. I didn't need a double space, but I paid the extra $5 as it was well worth it. The single spaces don't seem to have very much shade and they are tiny. The double spaces have all the room you'll need and plenty of shade.
Be sure to bring cash in incremental amounts because there will be no one there to give you change. I ended up paying $40 instead of $30 because of this. Singles are $10/night and doubles are $15.
The camp sites have fire pits with an attached grill/adjustable grate. They also have convenient metal tables for putting hot pans on or coffee pots.
Also, the first area of camp sites is close to the river, so you can hear it the entire time. It's a slow moving river, so it's not too loud. I also went into the river to pan for gold and it was one of the most soothing and relaxing experiences I've ever had. My boyfriend and his brother spent most of the day flyfishing and they each caught rainbow trout using a #12 caddis pattern. The water is low and warm enough to where you can wade with shorts or even roll your pants up. Water shoes or shoes with good grips are helpful because there are small rocks in the river.
One day of camping at this place left a memory that I'll have for my entire life. One thing to take note of is that we went in August thinking it wouldn't be too cold at night and we were wrong! It probably got down to 40 degrees; pack accordingly! The day temp was a perfect high 70's- low 80's. Will return as often as possible.
