Campsite: Summit Lake State Rec Area

First, the good. The campsites were big and well taken care of. The bathrooms at Muskrat campground are primitive but clean. The main side has big bathrooms with coin-operated showers complete with hot water. The place is super quiet, and pets are welcome.

Be advised that there are no park attendants other than the camp hosts who are not employees and dont manage reservations.

Now the bad. The lake is low, and looking at the entrance, it's intentional. The water is very still, and mosquitoes and flies are abundant, so take spray. There is/was a beach, but now it's a sandbox. Whoever decided the water level needed to be this low really knocked down the appeal of the park. As I said earlier, the showers are coin-operated at 1.50 for five minutes. There is a change machine out front however its cash only. There are no water or sewer hookups at the campsites. There is a dump station all the way inside the campground, but it is on a hill, so you will not get a complete empty.

Overall, it was a fun place to camp, but a lousy place for kids to swim and fishing was almost nonexistent.
