Campsite: Fern Ridge Shores RV Park and Marina - 55+ RV Park

This is not a place to bring your kids to have fun! The only designated swimming area is a little beach-like area that is very muddy and seems to be where all the lake debris is washed up at. It is also a place where the wake from the boats seems to be the heaviest and therefore not good for little kids either. This swim area is located a mild distance away from the camping area so it requires a little bit of a stroll through the private living area in order to get there as well.

The staff was very uptight and all over the kids. One of our campers had picked up some smooth stone from the private drive, thinking they were just rocks,  and used it to skip a rock across the lake. Of course, this staff had told them this was not allowed and we apologized and informed all the kids not to do that, but that was not enough, the staff made it a point to come out 2 more times and engaged the kids Personally. Fortunately i happened to be out of sight of them on both occasions an interacted with them letting them know that the kids had already been reprimanded and we got the point.

If you have a boat, and no kids and don't need to swim  the shore, this is probably a good place for you.

Also, the area of field that the campsites are allowed at has bramble thorns in the ground so be sure to have at least flip flops on. The grassy area towards the lake had lots of animal excrement. Some from birds of the area which is natural and dear. But... there seem to be a lot more small canine feces then anything else! I'm assuming this is a common area for the elderly residents of the private establishment to take their dogs and not pick up after them?

Obviously, we dI'd not have a good time or felt welcomed. I will try to post pics of the water at the swim area.

Suggestion: give the campers an area they can swim; other than a small, waste high, marshy area; so they can enjoy the water. This is a lake after all and not everyone owns a boat. This may give them something to do and not wander around.

I've posted pics of the swim area but it did not pick up how close the buoys are that contain the swim area very well.
