Campsite: Izaak Walton State Rec Area

Very cool spot to be at during the salmon runs. The amount of fish that stack up during certain times is crazy. Easy access to shore casting brings more people but still so cool to see soooooo many salmon.

Campsite: Governor Knowles State Forest Remote Camping — Governor Knowles State Forest

The forest parallels the St Croix for miles. The St Croix river is awesome to fish. Lots of smallies...lots. Floated the river by day, stayed at the St Croix campground at night. Smaller campground, well kept and decent buffer between sites.

Campsite: Copper Range Campground — Brule River State Forest

Smaller campground in a pine forest, love the smell after it rains. A short walk brings you to the rivers edge and a canoe landing. Most of the sites are close to each other and have little buffering. There are a few drive in sites that offer a little more privacy. There are also a few walk in sites. Granted I only walked about 50 yards to get to the site, it was a little more quite. Love the setting of the campground but would only go back if I could reserve certain sites. The best reservable sites do go early, clearly. The garbage area was kept well organized...recycling etc. The bathroom was clean and mostly bug free. I definitely liked the effort put forth in keeping the grounds in good shape.

Campsite: Brule River State Forest Backpacking Sites — Brule River State Forest

Brule River State Forest is a beautiful place to visit. My trip coincided with the end of the Hex hatch on the Brule river. Fishing in the dark, in a new place can be a bit tricky, even with a headlamp. Caught more tree branches than fish. Landing nothing bigger than a 13" brown. Spent a few more days hiking, wading and fishing the Brule. Lots of little fish...scenery was awesome, scouted a few good steelhead spots for a later return and what few decent fish I got to show themselves was enough to keep me searching. Stayed at Copper Range campground which was nice but close quarters and had a canoe access down a path. Also stayed at the Brule river motel...nice place with very nice people. Kro bar was a short walk down the street. I will be back for some steelhead.

Campsite: East Fork Campground

Stayed here in June of 2020. Clean, nice, right of the east fork of the Black river. Garbage dump area was maintained, pit toilets were decent but very buggy during my stay(you walked in and the mosquitos went to town), still not much of an issue cause there are alternatives. The site I occupied was right on the river with a cool view. My only issue with this place, was the couple in the tent one site over. Guess what sounds woke me up in the middle of the night.
