The Raynolds Pass fishing access site has a lot to offer the fly-fisher who doesn't need a fancy lodge, hotel or campground. One may camp here for a limit of seven days for free. There are not really campsites but parking spots. There are a few weathered tables as well. The toilet is well-maintained. There is no water or garbage here. Early summer is the craziest time here with the stonefly hatches and evening caddis. Views of mountains are all around, and summer thunderstorms can make for quite the show.
This is my favorite campground in the Bighorns. It's very open, so you have great views, and I appreciate the higher altitude. Elk can often be seen on the lush slopes of Bald Mountain, which also makes for a great hike. The Medicine Wheel and Porcupine Falls are quite close. If you like to fish, the upper Little Bighorn River can be a hoot for small cutthroat and brookies.
