Campsite: Round Bottom Camping Area at Slush Run

We stayed at the roundbottom camp as part of a 20 mile backpacking trip with the Boy Scouts. We started at Connellsville and ended in Cedar Creek Park. Roundbottom is right in the middle. This was a rare "free" event for us, we used this trail as a shakedown for a longer trip on the Appalachian Trail. Its an easy flat hike in and out. The site was well maintained and large enough for 100+ campers. While the pump water is non-potable, we did filter some and while it tasted metallic, it was safe. Better water can be obtained from the Yough or Slush Run. The free firewood had been depleted, but it was off season and there was plenty of wood to be found by scrounging. Would recommend to any scout troop who wants to get started into backpacking, but needs to ease into it a little.
