Columbine Lake is state-mandated "public" waterway (late 19th century formerly Southern Ute Power Company), maintaining a 50-foot project easement from center along Little Cascade Creek beginning at flume (Cascade/San Juan County,CO) and around the entire perimeter of Columbine Lake. The 50-foot Excel project easement overlays a 20-foot Lake Purgatory property easement and then is surrounded in areas by private property. Lake is accessible by public right-of-way Lake Purgatory Drive on east edge where it overlaps into the public ROW. Property owners in greater Lake Purgatory subdivision also have, in perpetuity, access for boating and fishing on deeds and on the Lake Purgatory Subdivision plat 364510. This does NOT mean you can kill the fish, pollute the lake or infest it with your boats or trespass to access. The lake is a "pre-reservoir" for Xcel Energy-control and main Electra Lake for Tacoma power plant. If you ruin Columbine Lake, Xcel Energy will drain all (Columbine and Electra) and leave us with a mosquito-infested mud puddle.
Take care of this lake as if it were your last living child...
