Update #1: after the entire campground emptied on Monday, the voltage issue recovered a bit (as expected) and we were able to proceed with a bit more normalcy, but we still lost power a few times.
Original:
Our first visit here, on Labor Day weekend: nice enough campground, most sites are quite large. If you have kids (which we do not), this place is great with the jump pad, nice pool, playground, etc. It was very busy for the holiday weekend but never felt cramped.
We unfortunately seem to have gotten the worst luck site on the entire property. We chose a full hookup 30A site that was at the end of a row and seemingly would be quiet and private (site #60) as we were going to be doing some computer work.
Driving in, we drove by some very nicely upgraded sites: new gravel, nicely mowed, etc. once we got to the end of the row to our site, it had clearly recently been left by a seasonal camper. No new gravel, some trash (including construction debris), and a sad, unkept flower garden.
There was power issues from the beginning. Thank goodness for our Progressive Industries EMS-PT30X or who knows how much more damage could’ve been done to our camper.
The site had very low voltage and would keep tripping the power off. We were never able to run the AC even once. And on Sunday night (when the campground was at its busiest), we couldn’t even run a fan and one set of lights. In fact, it got to the point we just turned the breaker off completely.
Earlier in the day, the manager had offered that we could move but it was only a 50A site in an undesirable location and moving was just incredibly inconvenient when we were more than halfway through our stay already. He then offered a small discount for the troubles only after I had asked for it.
If we wanted to boondock, we would’ve prepared much better for it and would’ve went somewhere we didn’t have to pay.
Very very unhappy, certainly ruined our weekend. The outdated electrical infrastructure at this campground (or at least that site) very clearly and desperately needs to be upgraded—I just hope there is no permanent damage to our 2 year old camper.
