Not a lot of reviews on this campsite or in general for Wrangell St. Elias NP and McCarthy or Kennecott. I just did a road trip through Alaska and several National Parks and couldn't find a lot of info so I will be trying to compile that info somewhere online and I'll update this review with the link if anyone's interested.
Anyway this campground is not well marked and the spots are even less defined. I actually ended up camping at Glacier Campground (also not marked) which isn't even on google maps but is only a little further down the trail from Jumbo Creek. I would recommend staying at Jumbo Creek because 1 its free and closer to everything in Wrangell and 2. its closer to the Jumbo Creek waterfall which is your only water source between Kennecott and the glacier. If you camp at the spots near McCarthy you'd have to pay 10 dollars per person just to shuttle 5 miles into the park where the hiking trails are and those sites are about 25 bucks a night.
I would also recommend doing the fly/drive option or if you can afford it just fly in and fly out options offered by Wrangell Air. The road in is not very scenic but the flight is unbelievable.
Photos are from Glacier Campground but these two are literally right next to each other.
