Campsite: Ferron Canyon Campground

This was what I imagine when I want to go camping in the forest. The north loop was a little busy with a number of people in trailers and lots of pets. We were lucky enough to be in the south loop with only 2 other campers. The road was very well kept in the campground, and each site was well maintained. The bathrooms were clean and the water was within a reasonable distance to our site.

This location is BEA-utiful! There is plenty of wildlife, a nice quiet lake, plenty of ATV trails, and the weather was perfect for an early July camp out!

NOTE: I would strongly recommend taking the road from Ferron into the campground. Google maps suggested taking Manti Canyon, and while it was also a beautiful drive, the road was just larger than an ATV trail, and was littered with large rocks. I heard the road from Gunnison isn't as bad, but for a vehicle towing a trailer the Ferron road is best.

Campsite: Aquarius Ranger Station

We stayed here for four days. It rained at least a few hours each day, but that kept the temperature down! The mosquitos were horrendous, but that didn't stop us from having a great time!

This is a great place to take horses, ATVs, go hiking, and to just get out into nature! There is no campground around, so nights are very quiet. The bathroom was clean. The cabin has some cooking utensils, plates, and cups. It is very cozy, and a great place to be.

The one downside is the directions to get there. Use Google maps, but don't listen to the turn by turn instructions.
