My birthday weekend at Blue Moon Rising could have only been better if we had stayed longer!
Arrival:
Ox was the employee manning the desk when we arrived and he remembered my girlfriend from her previous visits with her yoga studio retreat group. He checked us in, helped us load our gear onto the golf cart and drive us up to our cabin. He made sure we were all settled and understood where everything was and how it all worked before he left us to discover the rest of grounds on our own.
Amenities:
We stayed in a two person cabin called Kaya. It is well appointed and cozy. The thing about the cabins at Blue Moon Rising is that you probably won't spend much time inside them. Rather, you will live out your days near them. There is so much to do in the Deep Creek Lake area that we were only inside to eat and sleep.
My only complaint about the cabin itself is the lack of a freezer.
On the grounds:
I'm not sure if it was just the weekend that we were there or if it is always this way, but it seemed that Blue Moon Rising attracts like minded people and we had a great time with Utah the other guests chatting and hanging out. We also explored the other cabins, the party tent area with a dance floor and plenty of room for a big group of party goers, the walking trails, and the common areas.
Wildlife:
We spent a bunch of time exploring the plants and fungi on our hike. But, the best part was seeing a baby bear 🐻 running across the road one time. No sign of momma bear 🐻, but we were on alert just in case. Note: make sure you keep your dog close by.
Deep Creek Lake:
Well... Too much to say about the area. Lots to do. Lots of fun.
Food: we only ate out 2x. Once at Moon Shadow, the sister company to BMRising, and once at Rebecca's Pizza. Both were ok. If you are looking for an ice cream treat, I highly recommend Lakeside Creamery and their homemade ice creams!
Checkout: Easy peasy. We called for a ride and the big red golf cart carried our gear back to the car. The young lady who drove the cart also gave us a hand loading the gear into the car.
