Campsite: Molalla Ripple

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the serene beauty of Molalla Ripple Campground, a hidden gem nestled along the banks of the Molalla River, and I couldn't be happier with my stay.

From the moment I arrived, it was clear that James, the host, was genuinely enthusiastic about providing campers with a fantastic experience. He's incredibly personable, easy to work with, and exudes a warm welcome. James' dedication to ensuring a pleasant stay was evident throughout my visit.

The campsites are well-maintained, and dappled sunlight filters through the towering trees as the sun makes its graceful journey across the sky. I had the privilege of staying at campsite 7, right on the edge of the river, and it was an absolute dream. Waking up to the soothing sounds of the river and the gentle rustling of leaves overhead was a true delight.

The campground's surroundings are enriched by the presence of various animals, including hogs, sheep, and cows in the adjacent pastures. The hogs even come up to the fence when called, offering a unique and memorable interaction with nature.

The natural symphony of the river, wind through the trees, birdsong, frogs, and crickets created a soothing soundtrack for my stay. Falling asleep to these harmonious sounds was a tranquil experience I won't soon forget.

Molalla Ripple Campground offers a range of activities to enjoy, including a paddle boat for water enthusiasts, swimming in the crystal-clear river, and an easy trail that runs alongside the river, providing a pleasant walk without being overly strenuous. The trail eventually leads to the freeway, offering a unique perspective on the surrounding area.

A couple of things to note: While James has diligently placed yellow jacket traps around the campsites, I did find that when cooking, these insects tend to follow the scent of food rather than the traps. So, consider bringing a few extra traps if you're planning on cooking. Additionally, there is a wood mill about two miles away, and on Thursday night, the noise could be heard quite clearly. James mentioned that these sounds occur at random intervals, so it's not something to necessarily plan for, but it might be wise to have earplugs on hand just in case. Thankfully, the rest of the nights were peaceful and undisturbed.

In summary, Molalla Ripple Campground is a true haven for nature lovers and those seeking a peaceful escape. With its breathtaking surroundings, friendly host, and an array of activities, it's an ideal destination for a relaxing getaway. I can't wait to return to this riverside oasis and create more wonderful memories. Highly recommended.
