Knowing what you’re getting is key to appreciating this campground. This is a very small campground with wooden walls separating each site. We stayed at the very first site off the road (before the gate). We were basically right on the road, and heard traffic and music from the bar across the street all evening. We camped in a rooftop tent, and were pretty tight in the site. Bathrooms were dated, but fairly clean. There were two showers in the restroom. One was large and had lots of space to shower and change. The other was small, and you stood sort of tall with short doors. Little strange to be able to see over the top while showering. If you have a camper with facilities, this would not be an issue. No campfires allowed, which really takes away from the whole camp atmosphere for me. I understand why they don’t allow fires, as everything is tightly packed in.
The best parts of Turtle Beach Campground: location! A few steps to the beach, a free trolley ride to Siesta Key. A great little restaurant right across the road. It’s all about knowing what to expect, and you’ll be happy here.
