Campsite: Lynn Ann's Campground

We always make this a family trip, 4-6 sites booked for a week. Check in time is 3, we’ve always gotten there early so we did just like any other year and got there at 11. When we got there we were told we couldn’t check in until 3, but they were nice and said we could at 2. We saw someone cleaning the outside of the camper we were renting and asked him if we could put our food away so it wouldn’t go bad. He told us he was done doing what he had to do so we could. We had no intention on checking in then, all we wanted to do was put the food away. As we were doing that the owner comes in and asked us what we were doing and that we shouldn’t be here until 2 (he said it in a nice way). When I was trying to explain to him what we were doing and that we asked a staff member for permission so he didn’t think we just took it upon ourselves to barge in, he completely ignored me. I then told him we could put everything back in our vehicle and apologized for the mix up but he continued to ignore me and walked right past me. I understand there is a check in time for a reason but what upsets me is that I asked the staff about putting the food away and I told the owner we could move everything back out and that we didn’t want any issues and he made me feel like I was nothing. Then as he was leaving he noticed we had dogs. Two of the dogs were mine, which I paid for having there, and the other two were my dads (they were all small dogs). I had them all in our camper just while my dad was backing up his camper. I told the owner that and all he said was “okay” but I could tell he didn’t believe me. So right off the bat we felt super uncomfortable staying there, but since we spent $1300+ on just renting the camper for the week we wanted to make the best of it. Our site was the site that all of my family hung out at. We set up a gate outside the camper where we could put everyone’s dogs (4 pugs total) while we were all together, which we didn’t think would be an issue since all the dogs were outside. The day after we get home I get an email about how they had to do excessive cleaning. I was mad about it at first, but I get it. They said there was dog hair, which pugs do shed so I can see that. They said some things weren’t clean, It was my husbands job to make sure everything was clean while I packed the car so it was my fault for giving him that responsibility, so that didn’t bother me anymore either. What did upset me was in the email they talked about the pet policy, which we followed. If there was an issue with my dads dogs being in our camper for a half hour while he was setting up why didn’t anyone say something to me then? We would have gladly got them out of the camper. If there was an issue with other dogs being in the gate we had outside the camper why wasn’t it addressed while we were there? We could have resolved it right away. I love camping here but this year with how everything occurred it made me feel so uncomfortable and made me feel like they look at us as if we’re careless people that think we don’t have to abide by rules. Which why would we purposely violate the camp rules when this is somewhere my family has gone for 3 generations and was planning on returning to year to year?
