Campsite: Lower Piedra River Camp

The campground is small and pretty with plenty of shade and many fairly private spots. It's first come first served as get there early.

Reason for only 3 stars:

Only a few of the spots have access to the river, which is a bummer because they could put in general access as well if they wanted it to be available to more people. The sounds of the river at night were pleasant.

Also at the end of the campground there is a gate to a private road. There were cars coming and going through that gate at all hours. The gate squeaks which is disruptive at night and where we were camped meant the headlights shined right into our camper every time someone stopped there to open the gate, drive through, and then shut it.

What earned it 3 stars:

The camp host was fantastic, taking her responsibility very seriously and keeping immaculate grounds and facilities. The vault toilets actually smelled fresh and clean inside.

The area is lovely and right before you enter the campground there's a shallow pond for the kids to swim in.

We live close enough this will likely be a regular quick weekend away, but I likely wouldn't drive a long distance for it given the limited river access and the constant traffic through it.
