RACISM AT ITS WORST. I’ve been on this earth for 43 years and lived in the south for all of it and there are things you grow accustomed to. Being the only black family at certain places is one of those things but comfortable can switch to uncomfortable in the blink of an eye. My family and I chose this location for a brief getaway and noticed immediately we were the only family of color. This was made more obvious uncomfortable states that seemed to go on for a moment too long but we went on with our plans. I have 2 boys 15 & 12 and for once they seemed ok with puttin their phones away and having fun outdoors. Upon returning from the store the 2nd day we noticed a woman identifying herself as the manager approaching our vehicle and were expecting a welcoming but received a reprimand for speeding. The third day the same woman attempted to discipline my boys in my absence making accusations of them using marijuana. When I approached I was informed that this was a quiet campground until people like us arrive. I was blown away, brought my boys back to our spot and called the owner. Expecting a rational conversation amongst adults I received the complete opposite, was told to shut up, was told the police had already been called and that it would be best for us to leave. Looking back leaving was the best thing we could have done but I hate that my boys had to be subjected to such behavior.
