This place is such a gem! Because it was still considered the off season, we ended up being the only tent campers on this ground. We were separated from RV campers by a huge pond that boasted very assertive geese. The back of the grounds had well-kept chicken coops and huge bird cages. There were over a dozen chickens, several peacocks and a few other species of birds. All had plenty of space and looked in good health. We set up camp next to their outdoor pavilion, which had been covered with dust and pollen over the winter. Underneath all of the dust and dirt was a nearly new outdoor kitchen, complete with oven/stove, lengthy countertops, a mini fridge and sink that the owner (Clarence) turned on for us immediately. Clarence was very friendly and generous, and said we were welcome to use anything we wanted, including their ample stacks of dry firewood.
I got to work right away scouring the counters and scrubbing the appliances in order to cook. We swept the cement and got everything cleaned in less than an hour. Clarence and his wife were so grateful that THEY LET US CAMP FOR FREE and gifted us a carton of fresh eggs!!!! That night, Nathan and I made pizza from scratch and ate it over a massive fire overlooking the pond. I even baked cookies after. 😊 the next morning, I was able to do my morning yoga in complete silence, and made a hearty breakfast on their brand new stove before leaving. We were sad to go! After being on the road for several weeks exploring the country, it was SO NICE to have a kitchen all to myself and to have such kindness and hospitality from our hosts. I HIGHLY recommend stopping here on your travels!!
