This was my first experience with a free campground, and this spot was a fantastic place to start. The turnoff from the hwy can be a little hard to spot, but Google maps was very accurate and helpful in finding it. Just a couple miles (literally, at mile marker 2) down a dirt road, and the welcome sign showed us right where to turn. We were the only ones there just before sundown on a weeknight, but got neighbors late in the evening. It was so quiet and peaceful. We saw lots of birds and butterflies, and even a couple bold chipmunks (keep your trash packed away - one of them tried to sneak into our little trash bag while we were standing 20 feet away watching!). The pit toilet must've just been serviced before we got there, because it was one of the cleanest I've ever seen. Overall, a great experience! I would definitely camp here again!
