This is a really cool part of the local Dayton area and Kettering history.
It used to also be called The Witches Tower by many.
Pretty much all the stories you hear are true!
It used to have a metal door and it used to be open to the public.
Then they started chaining the door and people kept breaking in...so eventually they concreted the door.
This did not stop people from getting in as part of the concrete door was broken out with sledge hammers at least once that I know of and there are other ways people have managed to get in.
I've been inside this tower a handful of times.
I've also been run off by the police a number of times over the years and further up the road at the Patterson monument that ncludes the horse.
Definitely a little spooky but also very neat.
