We enjoyed a fabulous day of exploring and hiking here. The lot for the Thornburg trailhead is small (accommodates 6-8 cars). We arrived early and had no issues with parking, but the lot was full when we left. Immediately upon leaving the parking area you start down a trail and arrive at the Lewis-Thornburg house, which you are able to walk through. Behind it are the balance of the old homestead buildings, barns, and sheds. Be aware in all the old wood there are a considerable number of carpenter bees. After a stroll through the buildings you get to the trailhead. You’re able to explore a gorgeous creek along the way as well as wander through the out and back trail. It’s easy walking, no overly steep climbs. Perfect for a family hike and picnic by the water.
