We stayed during Thanksgiving week to visit our daughter at UNC. We would absolutely stay here again. What we loved: large sites, nicely wooded setting, privacy, friendly hosts/owners, and certainly the most-quiet campground we have ever stayed in. The WiFi worked flawlessly, including for video streaming. The OTA TV reception was the best we have ever had (30-40 channels), even for our “challenged” Jayco shark-fin antenna. Cell reception was also very good (3 bars with Verizon). We had full hookups, including 50 amp service—everything worked perfectly. The water connection is below grade for freeze protection in winter, but no problem and we appreciated having full service even when the temp dipped below freezing. Propane refill was available onsite, and we took advantage of that. Firewood is available for sale at the office as well, and the price per bundle was below local market prices. The location is convenient to UNC and area historical attractions, the farmer’s market, shopping, laundromat, etc. We generally camp in state parks and love natural surroundings, larger sites, and quiet—this place was perfect for our tastes. We don’t care for amenities like pools, game rooms, and the like—so the lack of those things was not an issue for us. Springhill RV Park does not have a traditional campground vibe, as many of the sites are occupied by full-time residents, but again this was the quietest campground we have experienced in approximately 20 years of camping. We would recommend staying here.
