I have been coming here for years. The road could be made with a car with high ground clearance but an SUV or truck is probably the safer bet. The cabin sits on top of the mountain with no cell service. I did not see any bats or mice this trip. I did discover if you cross cold branch and take the trail to an old forest road. Turn right. Then follow that road for about a 1/2 mile and the trail splits. Turn up the mountain on the left fork. This will take you to Bob Bald. It is a steep hike but worth it once you get to the top. This is the perfect place to relax and unwind. There are two charcoal grills so you can cook. Bring blankets and bundle up. I hope this was helpful.
