This is a great trail with many options for whatever you are looking for. Old growth forests, huge rock/boulder formations, waterways, etc. are throughout the trail system. There are some decent grades/hills, and the paths are dirt/rocks/roots, so you have to pay attention. Huge trees await on the ancient forest trail, so take time to stop and appreciate them. Overall, it's easy to get to, ample parking, restroom available, picnic tables, CCC buildings to check out, and the trails are well maintained. I go during the week when there are fewer people, but the weekends aren't overcrowded or too busy. Depending on how much you stop to check things out, it will take a couple of hours to walk the trails down and back. Enjoy!
