The roads to get to this place are pretty rough unless you have 4 wheel drive. If it’s rained recently and you have 2, I would not even attempt as you’ll likely be stranded.
The beginning of the trail is a bit boring but once it gets to the hoodoos and petrified wood, it looks like another planet. There’s also a lot of opportunity for rockhounding. I would recommend giving yourself about 3 hours to explore. Because it’s out of the way, you can expect the area to be uncrowded.
