My family has been spending time in this little town nestled in the eastern slope foothills of the Cascades for 50+years, so I'm kinda partial!
Conconully State Park has changed a little over the years and just keeps getting better and better! With the addition of rentable cabins with electricity and a wonderful play area for children (and parents 🤣) and an updated bathroom with multiple stalls and showers that are phenomenal (no charge) there are plenty of fish in the lake adjacent to the park and another lake less than 1/2 a mile at the other end of town. And many, many of miles of good condition road's to explore further into the Cascades on side-by-side, ATVs, 4x4s and pretty much anything people get a wild hair to drive into the woods. I've personally seen a really nice Camaro up above Salmon Meadows out towards Tiffany mountain, which is definitely not a trail you expect to see a nice Camaro.
You can also drive from Conconully in any car a route through the woods all the way over to the Methow valley to Winthrop WA and go over baldy mountain pass which is a beautiful 40ish mile drive through the woods. Any which way you choose to take advantage of the many recreational activities in the area, Conconully State Park is a beautiful maintained space to have as home base for all your adventures!
