We love this campground. Our family meets here every year since 2018 to camp together for 1-2 weeks. My mom and step-dad come from Indiana and we come from Nebraska as it's kind of mid way between us.

The campground is run by the Army Corp of Engineers, and it's pretty clean and well maintained. The gravel pads are pretty level, each site has a table and a hanging pole, and many are shaded. There are concrete shower houses up the hill (by the dump station) that double as storm shelters, which we have used as such before. In the campgrounds they are more primitive vault toilets.

No water at the sites, but there are spigots spread around the campground, so if you pick the right spot and have a long hose you can at least top up your tanks without moving if you have a camper.

The coves are awesome to swim around or float/kayak/paddle board, but will occasionally get some chop in strong wind. A fair bit of wildlife along the lake as it's not developed around the edge of the lake, which means you get to look at trees and a rocky waters edge, rather than houses across the lake.

I look forward to this trip every year. The really amazing part of being here is that despite it being Missouri in mid summer, there are basically no mosquitoes. Sometimes there are midges or black flies, but at least we don't have to douse ourselves in bug spray to be out past dusk.
