I stayed at the Fox Campground and had the most relaxing experience. The county took over ownership of the park recently so everything is updated and looks great like new picnic tables and fire rings in the campground. There is a picnic area, a pavilion and a playground which is separated from the camping area.
All spots are great but the waterfront spots are just beautiful. It’s maybe 100 yards to the water. Nice clean, sandy beach with several sandbars and only the smallest amount of shells washing up (zebra mussels I believe). Three spots have electricity. Potable water is available at the entrance, dumpsters are available and multiple clean porta potties (well as clean as a porta potty can be). There are no showers, regular bathrooms or laundry.
There are thick woods on the back side and a note stating there are spots of poison ivy although I haven’t seen any so be aware if you try going in the woods.
The campground is dog friendly (please pick up your dog’s dookey. Please). The dogs are allowed on the beach and in the water with none of the ridiculous permits required in the southern waterfront areas of Wisconsin.
The only negative I can come up with is the road noise as it is right off M35. Also bring your bug spray, mosquitoes and flies are ever present and the flies are biting today because rain is coming.
Oh, did I mention it’s $15 per night, $25 for the electric spots plus a $10 processing fee. I will DEFINITELY be returning in the future.
