We've been to a lot of campgrounds and we must say that as of now we've declared this place our "home" camping location. If we're not planning a long road trip or specialty camping experience this is definitely our go-to spot. We camped here many times. All you need is a special use license from South Florida water Management and keep your printed paperwork in the car. In our opinion the non-equestion campsite which is directly next to the equestrian campsite on gate 3 is the best. Clean separate entrance showers( edit, recently added new shower heads which are a great addition to the ones that were there) and bathrooms make it a definite plus. The sounds of the wild hogs nearby at night is definitely something different and interesting to hear while sitting out at the fireplace. About a half mile to mile away at the other gate you can access the family campgrounds or group campground which doesn't have showers but also has various hiking trails there and a cool 7 Mile Long road to have a car tour on. One of the times we saw one of the largest diamondback snakes probably ever seen. It was at least six to seven feet long and I know the record is 7 ft 9 in. Town is approximately 10 to 15 minutes away which is basically a mile long strip of various stores and places to eat. Saw two coyotes and two wild boars on the actual property which came through the horse gate. First time we ever saw them in the campground. To the best of our memory in many trips we thought the gate was closed where the horses can go through. A little unnerving but great location still
