This was one of my favorite parks until this year. The park sits on the Chippewa river and my family has been enjoying picnics in the shelters on the riverbank for decades.
Adding camping was a popular move that increased the people enjoying the park.
But they've put too many "campsites" in and now the park is just a rv park with no space between rvs or between the shelters. You can't actually enjoy the park because the moment you move off your "site" you are in someone else's. Most of the "campsites" didn't have road access, but that didn't stop them from piling rvs 3 deep to the road. There was no water available for picnickers, shelters or not, because all spigots were occupied by rvs. The shelter used to have access to a grill, but that was being used by a "campsite" and most of the picnic tables that formerly occupied the shelter were gone, repurposed for rv "campsites". The RVs were parked within 4 feet of all the shelters, surrounding them, and all flat grass was occupied by rvs. There was no way to walk to the river from the road anywhere in the park without impinging on the "space" of those who rented"campsites"
We were asked by several rv people if we could let them use the outlets in the shelter that we rented and planned to use ourselves, indicating there's a lack of infrastructure for the rv "sites" as well.
