This is a great, well maintained campground with amenities you don't find at the vast majority of public campgrounds. The north side of the dam the sites are better spaced, but still pretty open and close to the road. The south side the spots are much closer together and not much privacy. The pros on the south side are that you're much closer to the showers and at least on the peninsula you can dock your boat right at your camp spot, even overnight. The south boat ramp was one of the best I'd ever seen with free loaner lifejackets available , a washing station at the top of the ramp, and a nice little access road to make backing in mich easier. The north side there are shared docks with lots of space at the north boat launch, and the bathrooms are all vault toilets, but the vault toilets are extremely clean and well lit and vented so they aren't stinky and full of bugs like most vault toilets. The camper cabin was pretty small, but located in a very private spot so it's quiet and peaceful. It is very well maintained and accessible and has two sets of bunk beds, one set with two double beds and one set with three tiers of twin beds (bottom tier is on the ground so it's not super tall). Showers were very clean and well maintained and the shower house even had free laundry for guests. There are free yard games and activities available at the office and the dam and visitor center were pretty cool. Fishing was good even just from the docks. There were several well maintained playgrounds and a beautifully maintained beach for kids to play on. And finally the staff and rangers were excellent, friendly and helpful. You should definitely consider staying here.
