Nice, remote campground with no amenities, which I like. Just pit toilets and a spring by rte 3 by the entrance/behind the ranger's station. My only gripe is that the sites are pretty small, and very close together, and the drainage is a bit poor on the sites. We were there all week and mostly had the campground to ourselves so it wasn't much of an issue until Friday night when the place was filled! The rest of the week it was very quiet. It rained quite a bit, so even though we tried to select our site as best we could (we could see the path that the rain took, but we had limited options on where we could set up the tent), we ended up with a river flowing partly under our tent, but fortunately we had cots in the tent so even though the floor bled through a bit on one side, we still stayed dry; that probably wouldn't have been the case if we were sleeping on mats on the ground). The rangers were all very nice. Bridger was there for a few days covering and he recommended some hikes in the area, then Holly was there for a couple of days, and then Bob and Donna, who are the normal rangers for Deer Mountain for 5 days a week, returned and they were such nice people. They brought our firewood and our water jug to our campsite on Bob's golf cart so we didn't have to carry them and stopped by to chat when we were around. Rte 3 can be noisy, but like 4 cars go by all night so it's not that disruptive.
