Last time I stayed here it was 25 years ago. The new owner made some significant improvements. We were able to secure the last cabin rental for our week of the moose hunt.

The cabin had propane heat, lights, stove and fridge. The camp was supplied electricity from 5-9pm. I believe they ran the generator for a few hours in the morning. There was a water spigot outside of the camp. We used it for cleaning dishes. I never inquired if it was safe to drink. I think it was but I brought up 12 gallons of water so I didn't ask. Running the bruners on the stove was plenty enough to heat the place. The upper lofts were sweltering hot using just the stove and it being 40 degrees at night. Our cabin did not have running water but some of them do. I believe a couple have showers and toilets too.

The moose were few and far between. We just didn't get lucky to bag one this year. The brids were plentiful though. I haven't fished here in 25 years but they changed the limit from 2 fish, 10" minimum to 5 fish, 6" minimum.

The location was good due to going through both the Chamberlain gate and the Caribou gate depending on your choice for the day. We hit most all of zone four. Going through the Caribou checkpoint driving up to Baker Lake was a blast. The drive was great. Tons of birds. Driving through tbe Chamberlain checkpoint was also nice. We drove up to Ross Lake. Tons of birds up there too. Just a note about going through both checkpoints. Bring an extra tire not including the spare. Also bring tire plugs and a compressor. They were raking the roads quite frequently up near Ross Lake. People were getting flat tires left and right. Most of the culverts are built up with shale so go slow driving over them. That shale will shred your tires. Be prepared and not let it ruin your trip. $11 per person to get through any NMW checkpoint for the day.

I will stay at this camp again in the future. The owners were nice and we didn't have any issues with other campers. Showers are $3 and the store has a phone as well as satellite internet. They also have gas for those of us that do a ton of driving up there.
