First week of October 2023 I was riding my bicycle in the Everglades National Park and camping. I had just ridden Shark valley and drove to the Flamingo campground, the drive was not pleasant. Winding through neighborhoods and roads with massive potholes. When you get to the park entrance it's another 38 miles to the campground. Check-in was not fun as they have a long list of things you cannot do and they want you to initial every one of them. Such as no generators, no noise after 10, no music period, must monitor your campfire at all times etc etc this all makes sense however do I need to initial six or seven times after already signing at the bottom. The fellow at the gate followed me to my camp spot because he needed two more initials.I thought I was signing for a home loan I understand there needs to be rules however I think this is over the top. I was tired and just wanted to take a shower. They took the faucets off the hot water. I guess to be more eco-friendly. Oh and the mosquitoes, other reviewers you're quite correct. The most intense mosquito swarm I have encountered in 50 years of Backcountry camping. No bug spray helps so be ready for that. I just thought for the high end pricing there was not enough return. Evidently they charge you $5 for each kayak you bring another reviewer mentioned probably for the Eco footprint . I think they charge that because it hurts their concession. Oh and $12.50 for a bundle of firewood.?I love my National Parks and have a lifetime pass. The natural beauty of the Great outdoors should be enjoyed and respected by all those who enter, however not overpriced by concessionaires trying to make a few extra bucks. Thanks
