Tucker Hill is a part of Croom WMA and is located in the Withlacoochee State Forest. Croom WMA is located in Hernando and Sumter counties northeast of Brooksville, and encompasses more than 20,000 acres. This tract of the Withlacoochee State Forest lies along 13 winding miles of the Withlacoochee River and includes Silver Lake. Cypress and large expanses of longleaf pine dominate this forest. The trailheads here include hiking, horse, off-road bicycle, also Twin Pond and East Croom hunt camps are open seasonally. There are numerous recreational trails: hiking (31 miles), bicycling (64 miles), horseback riding (43 miles). The paved Withlacoochee State Trail goes through the area. The restrooms are clean and there is a bike wash area here. I saw wild turkey, Whitetail deer, gopher tortise, a rainbow snake crossing the paved trail and a variety of song birds. I enjoyed the day and I will be back!
