We have stayed at this campground a few times and is one of our favorites however this time is different. This is the first time we stayed in the bamboo area in the back, which is a shell campsite. We arrived at night and found that our site was surrounded by water, mud and soggy ground. This was our first time using our new camper and was not looking forward to tracking mud inside. It’s so bad when you step out of the camper you are nearly standing in muddy water. There has been quite a bit of rain the last week or so but these sites are not setup for the rainy seasons of Florida. We booked for 3 nights but will be looking to cancel or move our trip to another weekend, luckily we only live an hour away and didn’t travel a long distance. If you book the Bamboo area, do your self a favor and check the recent weather or ask the front office the conditions. These sites were not built up, it’s low lying areas that they’ve tried to fix by digging drainage around each site.
The other issue is the water and power is on the front of the site rather to the back or middle. I had to unhook my truck from the camper so my truck wasn’t sticking in the road. I couldn’t back to the rear of the site because my power cord would not reach. This seems to be a poor design on these sites.
Again we have had several visits here staying under the oaks and love it but these sites in the back are not ideal for someone with kids and dogs unless you want mud everywhere. If you plan to stay in your RV the whole time then you will be good.
