This is a great place to stay in north-central CT, near Manchester and Hartford.
Pros: great family-friendly atmosphere, quiet, lots of activities, and decent-sized campsites. The comfort stations looked to have been recently updated.
Cons: Power and water hook-ups centrally located between some sites and not where they traditionally are, making coach placement challenging to hook up.
We had a great time at The Quarry campground. We are full-time snowbirds and really like the family-friendly atmosphere. The staff was friendly and informative, and there were activities throughout the weekend to keep the campers entertained. We stayed in site 21 with our 53ft motorhome and trailer combo and there was plenty of room without having to unhook the trailer.
There were quite a few seasonal sites, which added to the family-friendly atmosphere As with the other campgrounds we've stayed at in CT, you can dump gray water only at the campsite, but the dump station is easily accessible and clean. .
The only drawback I found was that the power hook-up for our site was across the campsite, making coach placement challenging in order to connect to it. As it turns out they have 30 amp extension cords available, which would have been nice to know when we arrived.
We're looking forward to staying at The Quarry again. It's the owner's second season and they are adding more sites and improving the existing ones, as well as working hard to ensure the experience is comfortable and hassle-free.
