Moderate to intense trail. We only went to the first lake due to intensity and time we needed to catch the van back. The trail becomes more difficult the further you go. The hike from where the shuttle drops you off to the fist lake and back was over 3 hours for us.

The altitude at the first lake is right around 12,000 ft so if be prepared for some breaks if not accustomed to the altitude. Bring lots of water and maybe some snacks to keep your energy level up.

There is an old mining camp house about a third of the way up. It’s right off of the main trail, about a 5 minute detour, that has some pretty waterfall views. Overall views were expansive and the pictures don’t do it justice.
