Incredibly scenic campground situated feet from the Colorado River in a striking canyon which opens onto the mesas beyond the Western slope. Located a mere 7 minute drive from the quaint town of Palisade with ubiquitous wineries and fruit stands, worth at least day of spontaneous exploration. The rv sites are decently spaced, each site having a handy metal shelter and table. Staff are friendly and helpful, but not given to over patrolling. There is a cell tower right next to the campground, so if you rely on data for any activity while on the road, the signal is remarkably strong.
Of course, these virtues are mitigated by the fact that one of the major East-West arteries for the USA (I70) also cuts through the canyon approximately 200 feet from the campground. The bathrooms have a notice that cleaning occurs daily at 12 pm. Though we were not present to verify that this occured, no evidence of said activity was noticeable throughout our stay. Tent camping was very close without an attached parking space.
Overall, we recommend this as a great basecamp for exploring the region. Probably better enjoyed in a soundproof rv with your own shower.
