A nice area of Forest Service Dispersed camping.
After turning off the main hwy, there are a number of pull-in/back-in free camping spots and a vault toilet near the end of the road. There are also a couple of pull through spots that would handle large trailers or 5th wheels.
You can also go all the way down to lake level and pick a camping spot. Lake level provides great mountain views and gorgeous sunsets. If you do go to lake level, there is a short stretch of rough road on an incline. You can stop at the vault toilet and walk down for a quick look to make sure you are comfortable. We camped at the lake with a 28' trailer and 4X4 and had no issue with the road.
