We came to the City of Rocks to shoot the Milky Way as the location in the sky was perfect at this time of year. What we didn't know is that June is National Rock Climbing month. Soooooo there were zero spots available inside the park itself. After driving around for at least an hour and a half, we pulled into the RV Park to inquire about a spot and found they have 3 tent sites available! Score!!
The location is just outside of the National Reserve and very new. They have running water spigots and a fire pit at each tent site and RV site. There are also 3 very nice and clean outhouses, with solar lights when you go at night.
The scenery is just gorgeous!
They also offer wood bundles for sale, in case you didn't bring enough.
The man who runs is with his family is super friendly and on top of everyone who shows up, greeting them within the first 5 minutes of their arrival.
You can check in online ahead of time, or just drive up. There are multiple ways to pay, one being Venmo, which I really appreciated because it is so easy.
They have done a wonderful job setting this up. It is pretty and clean.
