I've been here plenty of times for camping, horseback riding, running, and the lake. A relatively nice and inexpensive place to go camp and relax without the traffic and crowded locations by the beach - it is remote with plenty of space for most parties. They have horse trails and plenty of water to boat on with an easily accessible ramp. Restrooms for the large reservation areas are in great condition although I wish they would install light fixtures. The only downside is the wilderness so mosquitoes and ants will be an issue if you don't prepare accordingly.

As for relaxing I stayed a night in a tent with an air mattress and it was great besides generators running nonstop however you get a clear sky.

Trails are extensive and well maintained but not all well-marked if you decide to hike or horseback around. Feel free to use trail tape yourself.

Safety-wise security regularly drives by and they are not nosey. You may occasionally have passerby traffic but nothing major.

Overall if you are a more laid back and countryside person, this a fit, but if your from the city and you have never tried to get some clay between your toes when wading in water then you might need to stop going to the beach and come here - it is good to experience everything. Have fun and enjoy nature!
