I'll start by saying that the camping side of things seems like it's a nice enough setup - the bathhouse was decently clean inside and the area in general was pretty well picked up. If that's what you're here for then you'll probably be pretty satisfied. It is on the other side of the spillway, so if there's a lot of rain you may find yourself not being able to get across to it or might find your stay being extended until you can get out!

With that being said, I feel like this was a nice park 20 years ago and no real dollars have been spent on it other than a small disc golf course and mowing since then. The playground areas are a mix of older and ancient equipment and their location under the trees basically ensures that they're going to be gross. There were a couple of shelters that seem like they'd accommodate a decent number of people. Other than the bathhouse, no bathrooms.

Sadly, the idyllic quality of the place is largely lost to the constant hum of the fans of the battery plant that sits right on the NE edge of the place - there's nothing to really do about that though, I don't think anyone could argue that the park being quiet/naturesque is more important than decent-paying jobs in southern Iowa.

It appears that there used to be a bike trail that you could use to get to the park at one point, but it has since been removed for said factory's parking - with that removal, the only way to get to the park is by driving - which is limiting. It would be really beneficial if some sort of sidewalk/trail opened up access to the park by foot to encourage people to go without necessarily having to be driven there.
