First off, we love camping and have been traveling across country for years now. We have seen every type of campground. Honestly, most of our campgrounds are rated 4 or 5 according to us.
We were not impressed that this is a campground without bathrooms. We have a camper and tent. We were charged extra for a tent but there was not a bathroom to use for our tenters. Keep in mind there was a water slide, paddle boats, a long grass driving range, and boutique but no restroom. I was shocked that necessities were placed as less important that fun. There were six of us camping and that gave us one shower and restroom for all six of us after a very long commute.
Our kiddos wanted to play in the water that a water slide led to. Because we didn’t have confirmation that the water slide was available to guests, we said they could at least play in the pond. One started played and was taken back by the smell on her hands. Good thing, they didn’t all jump in because there were no showers available for guests.
Once the owner arrived, I asked about about restrooms and she told me that this is a private campground and it costs a lot of money to run. She told me that this is their fifth season. I wonder how tents can be charged if bathrooms are not available to them. I will say there was one portapotty on site. It appeared as if it was never cleaned. It was full of spiders and bugs. In fact a spider jumped on our underwear while in use. If there is not a restroom on site, this should be cleaned. What are the state standards for restrooms for overnight stay properties? Like I said, this was different than any campground we have been to.
We wish this campground the best and hope necessities are added. I know there are other campgrounds in the area and wanted to make sure others are truly aware.
