When my husband and I first met the campground manager, we were in a rough spot. We needed a place to rent for ourselves and our children….which is hard to come by when you have pets and are on a tight budget. She presented herself as a good Christian woman who lived to help people and provide them with a nice place to live. We were so thankful she chose us to rent to. My husband got a new job and we requested to leave the lease early which she stated would be fine but we would have to continue to pay rent if she didn’t find another renter, which we were fine with….. until we found mold in the home behind the walls. My youngest has asthma and my husbands immune system is compromised so we wanted to make sure it was safe so we stated that we would have no problem staying as long as she had a professional come in and test the mold. She then stated that we could leave anytime as she had new renters to move in. Great! So we moved out and I cleaned the house and left it in good condition as I wouldn’t want someone leaving my rental dirty. She even mentioned to my husband during the walk through how good the cleaning job was. There was 1 vent that was broke and the closet door in the bedroom didn’t shut right that was caused by the home settling. Due to it not shutting right, a corner chunk broke off the corner. I messaged her about it immediately and there was no attempt to fix it. She loved to use “eye roll” emojis when replying to texts I sent her that she didn’t like or that frustrated her….VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. She recently messaged me stating that not only did she keep our entire $1,000 deposit she is saying we owe her money. I tried to message her regarding the money owed and the damages she’s claiming and she blocked my number so I cannot contact her. We have a right to dispute and/or discuss anything we disagree with but due to her blocking both of our numbers we either have to pay her to sue her….which we cannot afford and she knows that. We left that place very nice and in almost the exact same condition as when we moved in minus the things listed above and we were counting on that money for bills and groceries. Beware of who you rent from and if you can, always do your research or ask for references. Unfortunately due to our circumstances we didn’t have time to do that and now our family is suffering.
