FOR TRAVELERS!
This review is for travelers working in the Fort Dodge area and looking for temporary rooms to rent. The cottages used for weddings and events are decent and decorated nicely. The restaurant is pretty good.
BUT...the cottage rooms rented to traveling workers and healthcare professionals are NOT as you see them on Airbnb and other listed sites. The some of buildings have no smoke alarms, water and plumbing issues, windows are boarded up,... and over the summer, the air conditioners were not working properly for several weeks in 2 of the cottages. There are potential health hazards with the water that's very high iron, and the filters are not kept clean/changed out regularly. The toilets, sinks, and shower floors and walls are dark orange from the water. The water is not fit to use for showering, cooking, washing clothes, or drinking. The carpets and bed mattresses are disgustingly dirty and some mattresses very old. The windows are not secure, and some are boarded up, so there's no functioning window (fire hazard) in some of the rooms. Some of the toilets and showers need repair and are not working properly. There are few electrical plugs throughout the buildings. Very poor service for a cleaning company and maintenance/repair, which is especially important when sharing common living space with 4-6 other adults (otherwise your left to clean up after other people). The stoves and refrigerators don't work properly all the time and are not kept clean. The furniture has trash under the cushions and is unclean to sit on in the common areas. The trash outside is not emptied regularly, so the flies are horrible around the outside of the buildings.
Overall, the property listings are not in full disclosure of the 'actual' condition of these properties. These buildings are old and have had little to no upgrades, and it is questionable if they would even pass a property inspection for rentals.
