I read some of the negative reviews, and I'm really surprised because I've never experienced these things.
1. Steep roads in the camping area. Well, duh... this is a MOUNTAIN camping area. If you want flat roads in a campground, then find one that is located in a meadow or something.
2. Black mushy soil near the lake edge. That's what a lake edge is, unless you want to pave it. And it is NOT effluent from the bathrooms. They go into a septic tank.
3. Mosquitoes and chiggers. Well, it's a lake, with lots of wetland around it, so there will be mosquitoes. Wear mosquito repellent. The lake runs between 125 and 140 acres (depending on rainfall) and has a lot of coves, so there will be marshy areas. And this is Georgia... there will be chiggers. End of story. Spraying for chiggers and mosquitoes would contaminate the lake water, anyway.
4. Racism. I can't address this directly, but I can say that I've never witnessed it. If it happened as perceived, I'm truly sorry to hear about it. However, I can say that having one or two people who work there act racist, is not necessarily an indication of the whole staff.
5. Liars. Roger Peace is an honest guy. If he says the county policy says he can't give money back, then he can't give money back. A lot of how you get treated by people depends on how YOU treat THEM.
