We reserved this sight unseen while planning our trip to the Ark Encounter, and it seemed really good online. The office staff is very friendly and helpful. The grounds well kept and are very nice with walking trails, a pond for fishing, a playground for kids, corn hole, etc.

That being said, the highway and train noise is intolerable. They gave us site 7, which was right next to the road coming in and trains went by nearly every 45 minutes. We asked about switching sites and they readily and graciously accommodated us. We moved to site 80 which is next to the lake. This was $40 more per night, and backed up to the interstate and.the highway noise was very loud. It seems there really isn't any site within the campground where you can have peace and a quiet conversation. The office even supplies ear plugs! Really? That's not on the website.

If you have children and can tolerate the noise, this would be a good place. For us, not so much. Our trip only allows time for the Ark. If we come back sometime for the museum we will do more research for a state park that would be better suited, even if there isn't full hook-ups. While writing this I found out that even site 80 has train noise, as I watched a freight train go by. I wish I could attach a picture so you could see how close the train was. Or better yet, a video to show just how loud it is.
