Pleasantly surprised at how much I like this State Park! We didn't have reservations anywhere so just picked a place that had water/electric available. Prairie Dog is beautiful. This is mid September during the week. It was so quiet. Not many people were there. The sites in Shady Rest Campground are spacious. The staff worked with us to change sites. There are different campgrounds, each with it's own special niche. Ours was shady, on gravel, plenty of grass and room for dogs, backed up to woods and a patch of prairie grass. There are full sun sites up on a ridge, concrete pads, overlooking Keith Seibelius Reservoir...very nice but we wanted shade, so we moved...but it is very nice up there in Cedar Ridge Campground.. The prairie landscape along the way is just beautiful! In the State Park is a prairie dog colony where you can park on the side of the road and watch these cute little critters pop in and out of their holes. 6 wild turkeys walked through our campground daily. Private showers .....your usual campground type. You do have to pay an extra $5 a day to be in the park besides the camping fee.
Don't miss this gem! I will post more pics once they are sorted out.
