I am just going to give them 5 stars because even though I didn’t actually stay there; I stayed at the Benbow Inn which I will post a second glowing review for. The staff at the KOA were very friendly and they had arcade games and Yerba Mate tea for sale at good prices and lots of merch and fun things and the woman at the front desk was very nice and kind BUT I just have to note and laugh that the reason I went there is the Benbow Inn told me that I could go over and use the KOA pool and hot tub as a perk for staying at the Inn. My back really hurt and it was pouring down rain and thunder and lightning so I couldn’t go hiking or do much so I thought I’d sit in the hot tub for a bit and relax.

After I limped over there; I approached and saw the pool and jacuzzi were outside and they were both covered with plastic because it was pouring down rain and there was lightning.

I just laughed and thought that was funny and the girl at the front desk laughed with me and agreed that they really should have mentioned it was an outdoor pool and jacuzzi, thus acknowledging my frustration and good nature about it which I thought was pretty classy.

She offered to let me sit there as long as I wanted, offered me water for free and even said they could get a golf cart and take me back to the Inn.

Thanks for being kind and treating me like a king but also just treating me like a human being. Since Humboldt county gets so much rain, I wish they built the jacuzzi ar least indoors but it’s expensive to make that change now so I understand but it was funny.

Maybe the Inn will build a small jacuzzi in the back or something near the beautiful Eel River but it is a magnificent historical inn so maybe they can’t make changes like that to a national landmark. I don’t know.

Either way, no jacuzzi for me but I wasn’t mad at anyone on the staff. Not their fault. 😉
