Almanor Legacy is a relatively new campground, compared to the two other USFS campgrounds (Almanor South and Almanor North) in this unit. All sites are First Come First Served, and all have large paved parking pads suitable for RV's. A few of the sites are Pull-Through. All sites have electric hookup (20 and 30 amp 120 volt, and 50 amp 240 volt) and water. Be sure to check the web page for the status of the water system; occasionally, the water system goes out of service for repairs. All of the parking pads are level and the campground is well suited to tent as well as RV camping. There is an RV dump station nearby, but again, it may be intermittently out of service, so check the USFS website. Each site has a picnic table and fire pit. Note that in late summer and autumn, campfires may be restricted. There is a small town (Chester) only 10 miles away if you need to purchase supplies. There is a paved boat launch 1/2 mile away, adjacent to the Almanor North campground. Almanor Legacy is partially shaded in a Ponderosa pine forest, but the trees are not as dense as they are at Almanor South and North campgrounds; mid-summer camping in a tent might be pretty "warm". Single sites are $30/night, or $15 with a Federal Senior or Disabled Access Pass. Restrooms are all vault toilets with no water or electric lighting, so be sure to take a flashlight if you use the restrooms after sunset. There is an extensive network of paved trails for bicycling and walking that loop through all three campgrounds, and a set of beautiful meadows in the area.
